 Three guys just got together one night and said: "Hey, we need a great basketball tournament here in the North Country. A place where kids can look back and say 'Wow, we played there.'

That's how it all started. Greg, Pete, and Steve (GPS) Hoops was formed. Not only did we want a great arena and experience for the area high school student-athletes, we wanted to contribute and donate something back to the local community. We formed a partnership with ORDA, and the CVPH medical center, specifically the FitzPatrick Cancer Center in Plattsburgh. And since its beginning in 2004, our contribution has exceeded over $20,000.

The "Olympic Center Holiday Hoopfest" in December, and the girls "Lake Placid Primetime AAU Challenge" in May, have come to fruition. With the elderly guidance of our most respected local basketball guru, Larry Converse, we have achieved what we hope will be a first-class experience in a world-class destination.
